You’ve been to countless pottery classes and workshops, caught the bug, and now you’re ready to take things to the next level — creating your own pottery at home. You’ve got slabs, coiling, and maybe even the wheel under your belt… but what about the behind the scenes essentials like reclaiming clay, mixing glazes or managing kiln firings? These are the crucial skills every potter needs to confidently run their own studio and the ones your pottery teacher has been quietly handling for you.
With a BA Hons degree in ceramics and 15 years hands on pottery experience running a studio, I can guide you through the essentials— making the process less daunting and far more exciting.
Our 1 day course covers everything you need to kick start your pottery journey — from planning your studio layout, storing and recycling clay, how to operate a kiln, key health & safety practices, sourcing tools and materials, disposing of clay water, sustainable practices and mixing glazes. You’ll be given demonstrations, get hands-on practice, and leave feeling confident to start creating in your own space.
The day is your chance to ask as many questions as you like and explore our studio for inspiration and ideas. You might leave feeling like your head is too full of information but don’t worry! Once the course is over I will send you the course notes so you can relax and enjoy the day without stressing about remembering it all.
